Look what my boys have done for me...!
I've had a really GREAT time this last week hanging out with Kyle and Aaron every night since they arrived in Barcelona. It has been quite hard to handle at the end, maybe because I am young, but not that young! Arriving at home quite late, waking up early to go to a full-time work, going out, waking up early, going out again..... the first three days I felt really great, but on wednesday night I was completely off, although I really enjoyed a lot dancing at the Guru Lounge, a cool restaurant in Ciutat Vella that turns into a night club around midnight (see picture beyond to see it as a restaurant. Then imagine us dancing in the middle of the palms, without the tables, with a salsa group playing live and with the film Great Guy projected onto a huge screen -right, Aaron?-. Yeah, very fashion! jejeje) .
Here you have the draw that mis nenes did for me on monday night, while we were enjoying our Cocktail's time at the Rita Blue, one of my favourites restaurants in town!

De hecho, el mapa lo empezaron a dibujar ANTES de beber los cocktails! ;-) Pero sí, les quedó muy bien!

Jo, vés per on, estic un altre cop d'examens, ara me'n queden dos. I després, potser faré un doctorat.
No vull entrar en detalls (he, he, ja em coneixes), però et faria una pregunta, si et sembla bé:
Què et sembla millor, fer un doctorat en un tema que t'agrada però en un grup amb sense gaire recursos i sense gaire capacitat de publicar artícles, o fer-lo en un grup en un tema remotament relacionat però força més solvent i que m'obriria la porta a fer un postdoc amb més capacitat de decidir en què i a on...
A mi m'han "venut" que potser és millor fer la segona cosa, i que, després, en el postdoc, és quan he de buscar especialitzar-me en el què em sembli... No ho sé...
En fi, que me n'hi vaig (a estudiar).

òstres, quina ràbia em fa penjar un comentari (ho vaig fer ahir) i, quan vaig a veure de nou la pàgina, no trobar-lo! (con lo bien que me había quedao!) ;-)
Bé, intentaré tornar-lo a escriure de nou....a veure, la cosa és que jo sempre he valorat més el fet d'agradar-me una cosa que no pas si amb aquesta cosa obtenia molts o pocs beneficis, però realment és una manera d'actuar...n'hi ha d'altres (per exemple, la dels que t'han aconsellat agafar l'opció b) perquè al final pots tenir més portes obertes...), però la veritat és que el fet de treballar en un grup que publiqui molt no t'assegura que TU vagis a publicar molt. Són coses que, tot i que influeixen, no són vinculants. Bàsicament, el fet de publicar o no, depèn en gran mesura dels alumnes que fan la recerca. Tu pots tenir un director de tesi que publiqui molt (o bé perquè ell mateix fa recerca i és molt actiu o bé perquè té alumnes que són molt actius en el seu camp i obtenen resultats que després publiquen). El problema que jo veig és el següent: suposem (i espero que no) que passes per una mala ratxa: els teus amics de facultat estan treballant, guanyen diners...mentre tu et passes el dia al laboratori fent experiments que no t'acaben de sortir bé i estas desanimat perquè no veus la sortida...estas encallat, vaja. En aquests moments, el que et donarà força és el teu entorn de treball (tu no ho comentes, però aquest entorn és ESSENCIAL!) i el grau d'interès que tinguis per la feina que fas. Si t'apassiona el teu tema de recerca, no pararas fins aconseguir esbrinar per què allò no et surt bé...i fins i tot aconseguiras publicar, perquè tindras molta feina feta que podras "ensenyar al món", tot i que fins llavors, el teu grup no hagi fet gaire cosa en tema de publicacions....en canvi, si el tema que tens de doctorat no és del tot del teu interès, la feina anirà lenta i pot arribar a ser frustrant (ja ho és fins i tot quan el que fas t'agrada, així que imagina't!) ;-)
Bé, doncs només això...ah, i un consell: no basis tota la teva decisió en el postdoc que puguis fer o deixar de fer, perquè la vida és molt llarga i dóna moltes voltes...així que ara per ara, centra't en el teu doctorat....i tot vindrà sol!

Gràcies per la teva opinió. T'escric des del wordpad, donat que he d'optimitzar el meu temps (exam tomorrow) i la meva connexió no acava de tirar gaire. Ho tindré molt en compte, quan m'arribi l'hora de decidir. Ara, però, he de copiar i enganxar aquest brevíssim comment, o sigui que t'he de deixar per el moment.
M'ha quedat una mica cutre. En fi, ja m'extendré més en un altre moment...

Truthfully i don't remember what the movie was called. Great Guy seems like a strange title to me though.

Yes, the movie was "Great guy" (look this up, baby: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0027697/) and I had no idea the club was also a restaurant when we went there, neither, and, although it looks cool, I'm sure the Rita Blue is better !!! ;-)
And I am who has to thank you for your visit: you put me out of my every-day-life and this is always something good! Change is always welcomed when it comes to showing you different points of view!
And yes, I have in mind to visit California (Frisco, for being exactly....jejeje!), so don't worry, I'll call you if someday I'm round there and we will go out trying some freshy juices!!!! :-D

Well....I must admit I'm not much into north-american geography (In fact....I'm not good at geography at all...) so I didn't realized there were some states missing, but the only thing I can say is that they drew it with lots of passion! (and this always count, right...?) ;)
